What is Mathematics?
According to Google, Mathematics is "the abstract science of number, quantity, and space. Mathematics may be studied in its own right, or as it is applied to other disciplines such as physics and engineering."
The Mathematics Department at Oregon State University offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees. The department is small enough so that mathematics majors have the opportunity to get to know and work closely with faculty members.
Undergraduates can obtain a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics or a Bachelor of Sciences in Mathematics with a transcript-visible Secondary Teaching Emphasis Option. Both degrees include courses in pure and applied mathematics and include almost a year of free upper division electives. This enables students to tailor a degree program to their particular mathematical interests. The undergraduate program also includes minors in Mathematics and Actuarial Science.
